Harley-Davidson Is Recalling More Than 41,000 Motorcycles In US Due To Possible Short-Circuiting and Crash Risks

Harley-Davidson, which has manufactured the famed U.S. motorcycles for more than a century, is going to recall 41,637 motorcycles due to short-circuiting and crash risks. The recall has been necessitated due to a fault which was identified by the US’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) . The NHTSA had identified the problem to the voltage regulator which could rub against engine components and precipitate a short circuit. It will lead to a sudden loss of power without warning to the rider.

The recall order was issued by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Harley Davidson issued via a notice last week. The 41,637 motorcycles which are being recalled include five different models.

According to the details furnished by the NHTSA, the issue is with the voltage regulator output wire, which could rub against the crankcase, or the engine housing. With time due to friction the insulation of the wire could get worn out leading to an electrical short circuit cutting off electrical and driving power in affected vehicles.

Five different models are affected by the fault and they are all 20245 editions as per the recall notice issued by the NHTSA.

These five models are: 2024 FLTRXSE, 2024 FLTRXSE, 2024 FLHX, 2024 FLHXSE, 2024 FLTRX
