Plane Jane Faces Backlash for Allegedly Mocking Chappell Roan at 2024 MTV VMAs

Plane Jane, who is a drag queen, has been in the news lately, and it’s because of her appearance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

Jane, who appeared on season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, was dressed in a cowboy hat, corset, and full white-base makeup, and she looked very similar to singer Chappell Roan’s style from her popular Pink Pony Club music video.

Plane Jane Faces Backlash for Allegedly Mocking Chappell Roan

At the VMAs, Jane was seen acting shy and demure in front of the camera, which was thought by some fans as mocking Roan. This led to controversy and drama, as people did not want to see Roan getting mocked on screen by Jane.

The tweet that posted the video said,

“Plane Jane at the VMAs dressed up as Chappell Roan acting like she’s scared of the cameras this b**ch is playing with FIRE tonight- I’m f**king SCREAMING.”

People were discussing this online and stating how annoyed they were because of what Jane was doing on camera. The video of her posing for the paparazzi got more than 3 million views online. People reacted very strongly and perhaps in a harsh way because of this.

Jane said,

“I’m also into very musky, stinky, jungle men, so I just put the two together and my name just came about… And I just wanted to pay homage to this classic Chappell Roan look. The song ‘Pink Pony Club’ it’s really about the queer community. It’s about drag. And it’s a love letter to drag. So, I’m just here repping the queen… and, of course, giving it my little big b*oby twist.”

Plane Jane later opened up about this and also cleared the air as well. Jane said that she wanted to redeem herself in the eyes of Roan’s fans. Jane also mentioned that she wasn’t trying to mock Roan, but she was having fun and feeling her outfit to the max.
